Grimm's Rainbow Wooden Houses

A set of rainbow-coloured wooden houses in a wooden frame, for building streets, villages and small-world scenes. Suitable from 1 year. Why we chose it: Grimm's hand-sands every piece so there are no sharp edges, then colours it with water-based dyes and finishes it with plant-based oil. Grimm's lists the material as lime wood and states its paints and oils meet the EN 71 toy-safety standard. The colour can rub off a little with a lot of mouthing. How it fits your day: tip them out for floor play once pēpi is sitting up and grabbing, as in our Play and tummy time guide. Simple, open-ended pieces that keep being useful for years. • Size: frame 22 cm long; houses about 8 cm high, 2–10 cm thick • Finish: water-based dyes, plant-based oil
